Glendale, CA -- In an ironic twist of fate, a man hoping to avoid the reckless stampede of Black Friday shoppers was trampled by a runaway circus camel as he waited in the Glendale Galleria parking lot while his daughter looked for doorbuster deals.
The man, identified as Jorge Solis, was taken to St. Mary's hospital to treat two broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder after being knocked over and stepped on like a rag-doll by "Atula", the now famous camel that escaped from the Ramos Brothers Circus on Friday.
The circus says that "Atula" was about to be taken into the circus ring for an exercise but freaked out and broke free when a young Hispanic kid who happened to be near by fed her Hot Cheetos. The camel began galloping down Glendale Boulevard with handlers in hot pursuit.
They eventually caught up with the startled animal, but not before she had made her way into the Glendale Galleria parking lot and plowed over a distracted Mr. Solis, who happened to be texting his daughter at the time, asking her to be careful not to get trampled by the mob of crazed shoppers.
The hospital released a report saying that Mr. Solis was well on his way to recovery and added that he held no ill will against the camel, only against the dumb little kid who fed her Hot Cheetos.
