South Los Angeles, CA -- The Los Angeles Police Department is searching for suspects after one of their helicopters was brought down by illegal fireworks last night in South Los Angeles. The shocking scene was captured by an amateur photographer, who said the amount of illegal fireworks being exploded in South LA last night made the city seem like a battle zone.
Although the chopper was completely wrecked after crashing into a taco stand on Florence and Alameda, the pilot and two other passengers sustained only minor injuries. None of the customers at the taco stand were injured, but their late meal was completely ruined by the mayhem.
The explosion that caused the helicopter to lose control was initially declared a terrorist attack, but after examining the damage, it became apparent to authorities that the chopper was brought down by illegal fireworks, which were modified by local residents to generate a more powerful explosion than that generated by regular fireworks.
As of this morning, the LAPD was still searching for possible suspects, but given that every single person in LA was igniting illegal fireworks yesterday, the LAPD has a tough task ahead of them.
